Meet our Staff and Educators

Alison Vanner

Alison is a Ball State University Graduate and holds a B.S. in Elementary Education. She joined the Sewing Basket staff in February of 2004 following her retirement after 26 years of service with Cinergy PSI. She is the Manager at the Sewing Basket. Alison has been sewing for many, many years and rekindled her desire to sew and quilt in the fall of 2001. Alison is a certified Husqvarna Viking educator for machine support and teaches quilting classes.

Gennie Guhl

Gennie has been sewing since she was 9 years old. She began on her mother’s treadle sewing machine. Her experience includes many types of sewing; however, she is proficient in garment sewing and pattern interpretation. She is enamored with machine embroidery and can provide proficient support on many aspects of embroidery techniques. Gennie is eager to add quilting to her repertoire as well. Gennie is a part time staff member and teaches beginner classes for young sewers.

Stephanie Jarebeck

Stephanie is a part time staff member at the Sewing Basket. She holds a degree in Home Economics and was a manager of a JoAnn’s store. She has a vast knowledge of fabric, patterns, notions and sewing techniques and can provide excellent support to our customers. She teaches quilting classes and a variety of creative sewing classes.

Zoe Fields

Zoe has been a home economics teacher in the Huntington School system for many years. Her love and expertise in quilting shows in everything she does. Zoe is a free-lance educator teaching quilting classes for both The Sewing Basket and the Viking Sewing Center. Stop in to see a sample of her interpretation of the Grandmother’s Garden Quilt and join her Quilt Block of the Month Club to complete yours.

Shirley Rosenbrock

Shirley is our newest free lance educator and we are fortunate to be able to offer creative classes with Shirley. She is an accomplished sewer and a specialist with machine embroidery and software. Her passion lies with wearable art and she is an expert designer. Shirley’s creative classes will be an exciting addition to our class list and she will be premiering the “Sewing Revolution”.
